HOW TO GET GLOWING SKIN

All wise mermaids know that skin condition is dependent on the state of general health and wellbeing. We believe that finding the balance between mind, body and spirit ~ starts from within, by nurturing ourselves kindly. Fantastic skincare products will not be as effective if you are not sleeping well, stressed out, eating processed foods, drinking lots of alcohol and not doing any exercise. Take a multi-tiered approach with your self-care, starting with the basics.

SLEEP

We all need our beauty sleep to rejuvenate and revitalise body, mind and mermaid spirit. Epidermal recovery takes place when we are snoozing, so make sure you are getting good quality sleep.

Do this by ensuring the room isn’t too hot
Your bed is the most inviting it can be with your favourite linens
Turn off devices an hour before bedtime
Feel soothed by candlelight
Read something lovely to take your mind away from worries
Listen to recorded sounds of waves
Soak in a warm bath with a few drops of our Sea Goddess Bath oil
to calm your mind and relax the body to prepare for sleep

EAT

Eat an abundance of colourful fruit and vegetables, get inspired and try experimenting with dishes from different Countries at each meal. Foods that help to boost skin health include Spinach, seaweed, broccoli, apples, apricots, oranges, berries, nuts, beans, peas and if you are not vegan oily fish such as mackerel and salmon. It’s an obvious one, cut down on processed foods and watch the sugar.

SKINCARE

Choose high performance organic quality ingredients, products that are a joy to use and get the results you desire.
Turn your daily skincare regime into a wellbeing ritual. If you follow a simple daily routine that you look forward to, this will be a treat not a chore and the results will give you more confidence.

FACIAL MASSAGE

You can use at-home self-massage techniques on the face to relax the muscles and stimulate circulation which boosts your mermaid glow. Look out for Susie’s demonstrations on Instagram. You can also book in for a ‘head to tail’ facial with Susie in London.

Manual Lymphatic drainage is a wonderful way to stimulate blood flow and deliver fresh oxygen to the skin cells, MLD removes toxics to awaken fresh faced radiance. This helps to calm the central nervous system and when you are in a relaxed state, your body can balance and heal itself, this will show up with results in your skin health.

WILD SWIMMING

Mermaids are in their true element in the water and wild swimming has been proven to take positive effect on mental health.
Take a dip into water, float, feel free and cleanse away all negativity.

RELAX

This is personal to you, what helps one person relax may not work for another, so test things out, it’s a good excuse to explore a number of self-nurturing activities.
Try having a regular massage or reflexology, yoga sessions, sound baths and forest bathing can all help you to find inner peace. You may just wish to sit beside a river, gaze at the stars or just lie on a bed and listen to some beautiful music.
